POC Providers: Special Needs Process Information

RE: Special Needs Process

Dear Purchase of Care Providers:

The Department of Health and Social Services/Division of Social Services/Purchase of Care Unit is forwarding this correspondence to alert you of a new procedure regarding the POC special needs process as the Department is aware that many of you are currently caring for children who may have a special need.

If you have a parent who wishes to change their child’s POC eligibility status to special needs, you may advise them to complete the attached special needs verification form and submit it to the special needs resource mailbox at DHSS_DSS_SpecialNeeds_Resource.

This mailbox will be monitored by the POC team who will review the form and submit it to our Change Report Center for processing. Once it is processed the family will receive a notice in the mail and you will be able to view the new authorization in PSS.

Once the new authorization is processed, the eligibility system will automatically begin reimbursement at the special needs rate.
